About Twinbrook Village

Our Vision

Twinbrook Village seeks to strengthen the sense of community
and well-being for Twinbrook residents of all ages, cultures and
ethnicities through neighbors helping neighbors.

Our Story

In July 2017, 15 Twinbrook residents met to explore forming a
neighborhood “village” as part of the national Village to Village
movement. Eighteen months later, Twinbrook Village was
Incorporated as a 501c(3) non-profit organization.

Since then, Twinbrook Village has sponsored several community
events including:

  • A pot-luck picnic
  • A forum for Mayor and Council Candidates
  • A community get-together with shared food and exercise
  • A community bird walk

Our goal is to foster friendship and connectedness in the Twinbrook
community to help neighbors support each other. Inclusivity is the
hallmark of Twinbrook Village.

The Village Movement

Twinbrook Village is part of the National Village Movement, connected by the Village to Village network.

The Village Movement began with Beacon Hill Village in Boston, Massachusetts in 2010. Originally its goal was to provide support to seniors who wanted to “age in place” in their own homes but needed a social support network.

The City of Rockville adopted the village model but recognized that each village could either choose an intergenerational model or to focus on a specific age group. RAVE (Rockville Area Village Exchange) currently includes two villages (Twinbrook and King Farm) with four others in development.
